Dear Puppy Dawg,
I just saw the new electronically enhanced "Star Wars" and I have
some questions for you. #1 What did you think of the what's how's and why's
of the new electronic enhancements? #2 What would you guess were the
reasons for some of the substantial changes, such as Jabba's appearance in
the docking bay (like he had time to fry small fish!) or the fact that Luke
gets only one shot at the achilles heel of the death star in this version,
versus two in the previous? #3 Were the characters better looking in this
version or was that my imagination? #4 I forgot -- how did they get out of
the garbage masher after R2 turned it off?

Well, Allie Cat, I think I can answer most of your questions.
#1:They redid the graphics so they would be up to the 90's standard, and also so they could bring in more people/money. Well, the how's on this topic are gonna be hard, since I don't work at Lucasarts. :) But, I believe ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) had a large part to do, along with THX being used to digitally re-master the whole movie. The whats? Hmmm... I'll hafta think about that.... Oh, and my opinion of the enhancments: In the first movie, they make the movie even better! The second movie, theres not much difference. And, in the third, I liked the old one better (except for the new dance scene.. thats SOOOO kewl!).
#2:Well, Jabba is in the first movie because they needed to show why Han is in such doodoo in the later movies. It also shows Bobba Fett in the first movie! Well, Luke always had one shot... I believe in the old one, Wedge had the first shot at the Death Star's exhaust port. I don't think they should have cut that out.
#3:Better looking? Maybe, since it is all re-mastered in THX.
#4:Well, After Artoo shut the garbage masher off, he unlocked the doors, allowing them to escape.
I hope that answers you questions, Allie Cat!
